Custom Men designers and tailors in NYC answer questions our customers frequently ask about bespoke and made to measure suits, shirts, blazers, tuxedos and other garments.
Whether it's for business attire or for special occasions, every man needs a few elegant, high-quality suits that set him apart from the rest. Most men who shop for quality suits usually rush to high-end department stores and purchase the suit for its brand name rather than its quality. Then they bring it to a tailor and spend more money to get adjustments done, which destroys the pattern and the originality of the suit.
For nearly the same price of suits at high-end stores, or in some cases even less, Custom Men will tailor a suit for your body type, and is guaranteed to fit perfectly. Big and tall men won't have any problems with short sleeves or pants that don't fit. Short and/or stocky men, on the other hand, can have suits made to make them look taller and leaner. Tell us how you'd like your suit to fit: slim fitting/ loose fitting or in-between. How much of the shirtsleeves you'd like to show from the jacket, if any. At what height you like to wear your pants? How much break do you like on your pants, etc? That's the beauty of a Custom Men's suit. You won't need several alterations to get a perfect fit. All the perks of custom tailoring definitely override buying a popular brand name suit that may cost you a fortune and still doesn’t fit properly.
We believe a tailored suit should look beautiful inside out. Besides making your suit fit like a glove, we add personal touches to make it look genuine and unique. Other tailors consider it “special,” if they add a customer's name inside the suit jacket or make the sleeve buttonholes functional. At Custom Men, such features are considered "standard" and we add several other unique details such as accent stitching inside the jacket, a flower holder under the lapels, a mobile phone pocket inside the jacket, pick stitching, exterior watch pocket on pants and your name embroidered in the pants' heel guards. Besides all this, if you have any specific request —just ask and you shall receive. Our detailed touches will make your suit a stand out that will definitely impress your friends, co-workers, family and you. If you bought a suit from any other so-called "custom tailor," we encourage you to bring it to us and receive an additional 10% off your order. We will be happy to prove the quality of our work and make you our customer for life.
The fabric makes the difference in the price of a suit. If you're not looking for a brand name, you can opt for higher quality grades and pay less than $1500 per suit. Anything above a 110-thread count is guaranteed to make a respectable looking and durable suit. We buy many such fabrics in bulk to cut costs and pass the savings to our customers. Higher thread counts equal better quality and a higher price. Popular designers use fabrics with grades such as 150s or 180s. Suits made out of such top quality fabrics cost a lot more.
If you're on a limited budget, look out for our semi-annual 2 for 1 offer and get a 50% discount price during that period. Subscribe to our newsletter and never miss a sale!
You call ahead to make an appointment. We will help you select the fabrics and record your styling details. Our tailor will take all the required measurements and we will notify you when your clothes are ready for the next fitting. The total process takes 4 to 6 weeks. Rush service of less than two weeks is available for an extra charge and certain conditions apply. Please call (212) 767-0545 for more information.
At the fitting stage, our in-house tailors will look over every detail. Don't hesitate to ask for little adjustments because you're paying for the suit/s, and it is important that everything fits to your liking.
Renowned clothing designer Giorgio Armani is very selective. He only supplies fabrics to trustworthy businesses or stores usually found in the high-end shopping districts like 57th Street. We are proud to be one of them.
We take a 50% deposit at the time you place the order and the balance during the second fitting. If your total is over $5000, we offer a no-interest six-month payment plan. For example, if your total is $7000 the initial deposit required would be $3500 with the remainder divided into five monthly payments at $700 per month.
If you pay in full with a check or cash, we give a 3% discount (the merchant fee that we usually pay for credit card transactions).
At Custom Men, we take pride in exceptional levels of service and workmanship. We are passionate that a bespoke or made to measure shirt, suit or other garment from Custom Men is the best custom clothing you ever own.
What kind of work do the Free alterations cover? Why are shirts not included in Free alterations?
Free alterations include taking in or letting out seams (in case of suits) If you lose or gain weight within 1 year from the purchase date of your suits. Shirts are not a part of free alterations as they don't have fabric to let out. Also, work such as reweaving is not part of free alterations either.
